To,
Sri Narendra Damodardas Modi

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
Dear Respected Prime Minister,
The reason for writing this letter is to convey our deep concern about the present grave situation of Bangladesh, particularly the crisis that the minorities are facing. You may be aware that Bangla Worldwide, an online/offline platform, is aimed to connect the vibrant, culturally-conscious Bengali population and also people having keen interest in Bengali literature & culture spread across the globe, including Bangladesh. The platform is beyond religion and narrow politics. This endeavor engages itself to highlight the multi-dimensional aspects of Bengali language, culture, literature, health, commerce, entrepreneurship, and achievements of Bengalis in various spheres of human activities. Eminent personalities from the fields of Judiciary, Health, Education, Bureaucracy, Journalism, and Cultural fields are actively involved with this initiative. I happen to be the Chairman of Bangla Worldwide.
Since its launch in 2019, Bangla Worldwide has the agenda to initiate networking and commitment to connect Bengalis worldwide through various online/offline seminars, symposiums, workshops, and publications. Presently, the platform is connected to 120 countries. We also organize International Bengali Conference every year where Bengalis across the globe participate with much enthusiasm. Through this global connectivity, we also intend to render some social and meaningful services. We could do our little during the devastating Covid period where the Bengali Diaspora came forward to strengthen the Health Infrastructure of both West Bengal and Bangladesh. From the very inception of the platform, we have a strong bond with the distinguished intellectuals of Bangladesh who have championed Bengali culture, language, and literature across the globe.
However, what is most worrying us in West Bengal is the deteriorating condition of the minorities in Bangladesh. In the absence of a duly elected government in that country, a kind of mob justice is prevailing there, which has resulted in grave uncertainty in the day-to-day life of the minority communities. This is a matter of serious concern for Indians, particularly the people of West Bengal.
We do appreciate that, as the head of the present Government of India, you are fully aware of the impact of these incidents in our country and more so in West Bengal. What also concerns us is that the long-term destabilization impact of Bangladesh may have an adverse effect on the culture, heritage, integrity, and Law & Order situation in West Bengal. The recent incidents in Bangladesh may encourage the disturbing pronouncement of fundamentalists in our country. It is therefore essential to maintain surveillance on their activities. What also hurts us is that the current dispensation that is running Bangladesh appears to deny the enormous contribution that our country has made during the liberation movement of Bangladesh.
Under these circumstances, it is our earnest request to you to take appropriate steps regarding issues of the security problems of the minorities of Bangladesh and maintain peace and equilibrium in this subcontinent.
With respectful regards, Yours truly,
Chittatosh Mookerjee
